Ho Chi Minh City households saved 414,5 million kWh in 2019
On January 10, the Organizing Committee of the ”Emulation of electricity-saving in Ho Chi Minh City” (HCMC) Program summarized the emulation program “ Power-saving family ” in 2019. According to statistics, over the last year, more than 720,000 households took action to save electricity, with a total output of 414, 5 million kWh – higher than the same period last year. In particular, more than 300,000 households save from 10% or more. According to the organizers, this year’s program brings great efficiency both economically and environmentally: with the cost of saving 869 billion VND, and contributing to reducing nearly 338,000 tons of CO2 released into the environment.

Mr. Nguyen Phuong Dong – Deputy Director of Department of Industry and Trade and the representative of Ho Chi Minh City Power Supply, Saving and Safety Steering Committee, said that in the context that Vietnam is facing the risk of electricity shortage in the future, Ho Chi Minh City’s “Electricity-saving family” program implemented over the years has been very meaningful. This is a small action, but it brings great social efficiency, contributing to ensuring the continuous power supply in Ho Chi Minh City and implementing the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy. the period 2019 – 2030.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Quoc Viet, Deputy General Director of Ho Chi Minh Power Corporation, shared that propaganda and training of propagandists is a key task of the Organizing Committee in 2020. In addition, the Organizing Committee will guide and mobilize people to install rooftop solar power systems and use green energy to protect the environment.
