In the afternoon of 19 August, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in collaboration with Vietnam Electricity Corporation (EVN) and the Renewables Academy AG (RENAC) held the kick-off workshop for the training programme “Training development for solar PV installers and technicians in the field of renewable energy.“
The workshop was held online with the participation of RENAC (Berlin, Germany); EVN Power Companies, and Electric, Power Vocational Colleges directly under the EVN’s Power Corporations.

The training program is a part of the EU – Vietnam Energy Facility (EVEF), co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) , was implemented by GIZ. The goal of the program is to improve the capacity of human resources for the installation, operation and maintenance of rooftop solar systems, ensure the quality of the system and operation in the fast-growing solar market in Viet Nam.
Electric Vocational Colleges and Ninh Thuan Vocational College are the direct beneficiaries of the programme. The program includes activities such as assessing students’ capacities and needs; developing appropriate training coursebooks; conducting train-the-trainer courses on rooftop solar power and rooftop solar system installation with cutting-edge teaching instruments and methods, as while developing teaching instruments and lesson plans for teachers in order that they can train the their students. Hopefully, after the course, the teachers will be disseminate the training program widely in the rooftop solar power market in Viet Nam, promising a professional and well-trained installation quality in accordance with the technical processes and standards, ensuring the quality of the rooftop solar market.
Addressing at the workshop, Mr. Vo Quang Lam, Vice President of EVN said: “Up until now, the total installed capacity of Vietnam’s rooftop solar projects is 1,027 MWp. This is an outstanding development of the market. Therefore, the training program that GIZ offers the EVN is very intriguing and expected because it meets the current urgent needs of the rooftop solar market. In addition, Germany is a leading country in terms of quality standards, renewable energy, and especially solar energy. Therefore, the EVN expects that this training program, together with the technical assistance of the EVEF project, will help us to orient the technical quality for the rooftop solar market in Vietnam.”
