Technical Working Group Meeting on Energy Sector Reform
Within the framework of the Vietnam Energy Partnership Group (VEPG), on April 23, 2021, at the headquarter of the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam (ERAV), Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam, and the World Bank co-hosted the 6th meeting of the Technical Working Group on Energy Sector Reform, including the Electricity market reform. The meeting was attended by more than 50 delegates both online and offline from Ministries, domestic and foreign development organizations, and experts in the Energy sector.
Through the presentations at the 6th TWG meeting, delegates and experts from agencies, development organizations, and businesses have better understood the current situation, difficulties, and challenges in the Vietnamese energy sector, especially the electricity sector in the process of developing a competitive electricity market. As for the lead unit, the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam will coordinate with other units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade to comprehensively implement all aspects of energy sector reform in the next stage. At the same time, the Electricity Regulatory Authority will also emphasize on support proposals not only in 2021 but also in the coming time regarding the amendment of the Electricity Law, new contents on capacity building for units in the process of developing a competitive electricity retail market as well as operating the power system in the new context. In addition, the Electricity Regulatory Authority also hopes that they can build a complete roadmap for Energy sector reform and develop a fair, transparent, and efficient Energy market.
